ADVENT PREACHING SEMINAR
November 6 & 7, 2007
Presenter: Dr. Naomichi Masaki

THEME: "Preaching Advent Sermons with Dr. Luther"

A notable Luther scholar once remarked that “Luther’s Advent sermons are a microcosm of his spiritual world.”  In this seminar, we will take a fresh look at Luther’s sermons of the Advent season.  We will learn from him clarity of the Gospel with his remarkable theological insight and pastoral warmth.  It will be our privilege to hear him proclaim that we are given Jesus in the flesh for our forgiveness, life, and salvation in a world which is filled with consumerism, moralism, and post-modern spirituality.

Registration fee is $30.00.

The workshop will meet from 4:00-5:30 p.m. and 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and 8:00-10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Register on-line via the Good Shepherd Institute Conference registration.

LENTEN PREACHING SEMINAR
January 14, 2008
Presenter: Prof. Roland Ziegler

THEME: The arma Christi – the instruments of Christ’s passion

The “arma Christi”, the instruments of the passion of Christ, are a catechetical help to meditate on the passion of Christ going back to the 9th century. In this preaching workshop we will look how the objects used in the passion of Christ can serve to proclaim the significance of Christ’s suffering.

Registration fee is $30.00. Click here to register for the Lenten Preaching Seminar. NOTE: Registration is also available on the Symposia form. You do not need to register in both places.

The workshop will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Loehe-7.

For additional information on either seminar, contact the office of the Good Shepherd Institute at 260-452-2241.
