Mission & Vision

Mission Statement
The Good Shepherd Institute of Pastoral Theology and Sacred Music for the Church serves church and world as a theological center of conversation, research, and resources for congregations, pastors, musicians, and other church workers.

Vision Statement
The Good Shepherd Institute of Pastoral Theology and Sacred Music for the Church is dedicated to hearing and discerning the clear voice of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, through preaching, historic liturgies, substantive catechesis, and hymns that communicate faith in Christ in the church’s trinitarian teaching and worship. Through conferences and seminars, as well as through residential participation in seminary life, pastors, musicians, church workers, and lay people will be able to explore the riches of exegetical, systematic, historic, and pastoral theology, homiletics, liturgics, catechetics, hymnody, and sacred music. The conferences, seminars, and residential scholarly research will produce new resources for the church through publications and graduate curriculums that emphasize the recovery of a classic care of souls that is biblical and pastoral. A Web site will provide access to the resources of the Institute.
